Latest Social Media News For You

Social Media is ever evolving. Old trends fade away, and new ones take their place. A new era is born and each era has its own significance. 2023 too, has brought in new reforms and exciting updates across social media platforms, and it’s our duty to inform you about some major social media changes in 2023. So scroll down and get ready for a stellar year ahead!

Instagram Will Focus More on Photos

Instagram’s origin was based on sharing photos of users’ daily life events. As the photo sharing app gained popularity, their focus changed from photos to stories, and then eventually to short form videos called reels. Instagram Reels became a major hit among everyone, but there are still so many users who wish photos could be treated equally by the Instagram Algorithm just like the reels.

Well, good news for them as Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri stated in his latest Instagram live. He said, “I think we were overfocused on video in 2022 and pushed ranking too far, and basically showed too many videos and not enough photos. We’ve since balanced, so things like how often someone likes photos versus videos, and how often someone comments on photos versus videos, are roughly equal, which is a good sign that things are balanced.”

Now that photos will be given equal treatment, how do you plan on using this to your advantage?

LinkedIn Has Now Garnered 900 Million Members

In a recent data report given by its parent company Microsoft, LinkedIn has seen unmatched levels of engagement, supposedly having reached 900 million members. The job-seeking platform has reported an 18% growth in total user sessions, which is quite impressive!

As LinkedIn closes in on a billion members, let’s make it clear that members are very different from users on LinkedIn. In that sense, LinkedIn has only reported about 310 million monthly users.

Twitter Launched Test Of Ad Targeting For Particular Search Queries

Twitter has recently launched a new ad option, which will enable users to place ads under specific keywords searched by Twitter users.

People search for a wide variety of topics and everyday things they need on Twitter, and promoters can now use that to their advantage by placing their tweets below most relevant search queries. For example, if someone searches for an Indian restaurant, they will see specific restaurant ads within that search result listing, making it easier for both the customer and the promoter to connect.

The ‘Search Keywords Ad’ is similar to the kind of ads Twitter usually runs, but the only catch is that now one can see relevant ads under specific searches.
